Coastal resort with prehistoric caves and the Balcony of Europe.
Nerja is a coastal municipality at the eastern end of the province of Málaga. Its symbol is the Balcón de Europa, a viewpoint over the Mediterranean that on clear days allows you to see the African coast. The Caves of Nerja, discovered in 1959, house cave paintings over 40,000 years old and one of the largest stalactites in the world. The beaches of Nerja are among the most beautiful in the province: Calahonda, Burriana and Maro are essential. The old town retains its fishing village charm, with narrow streets and whitewashed houses. The local gastronomy stands out for fried fish and tropical fruits grown in the surroundings.
